Install Proftpd Pada Centos 6 dan RHEL 5

Dear Reader ..

2 hari ini saya sibuk melakukan instalasi dan migrasi server produksi. Salah satu yang terbesar di perusahaan saya. Semuanya berjalan mulus kecuali satu, FTP Server.
Pada server lama, FTP server menggunakan proftpd, diatas Centos 5.3. Setelah melakukan instalasi centos 6.3 dan RHEL 5 di salah satu server  baru saya sadari ternyata rilis Centos 6.3 dan RHEL 5.3 tidak mengikutkan FTP server apakah itu proftpd atau vsftpd.
Dengan mengecek paket Yum, juga tidak ada, akhirnya bertanya sana-sini (sebenarnya hanya satu, ke Google, dan voila menemukan jawabab berikut:

Step By Step

1.  Install Epel untuk Centos dan RHEL (keduanya bisa pakai) asumsi Anda sebagai root:

rpm -Uvh http://mirror.metrocast.net/fedora/epel/6/i386/

epel-release-6-7.noarch.rpm

2.  Install Proftpd

yum install proftpd

Selesai ..

Installing Webmin for Centos 5

It's very simple to installing or setting up DNS server, FTP or LAMP server using webmin. But for Centos, there is no package are made for it specify. But this articles are made for solve this problem. Because Centos are derivative from commercial RHEL, then we can use their package for Centos too

Mengubah Tanggal pada Centos Server

Bulan lalu, pas lagi closing dan kebetulan sampai larutmalam sekitar jam 11, tiba2 transaksi data pada aplikasi web kantor pindah ke tanggal besok, sehingga beberapa transaksi penutupan sudah pindah tanggal ke esok hari..
Pejabat di kantor udah panik, dan pas di cek ke server (was Fedora ternyata memang jam di server lebih cepat 1 jam lebih dibanding jam seharusnya. Nah biasanya mudah , klo pake GUI bisa di mundurin, kebetulan karena server cuman console saja..
Testing pake perintah "date", hanya menampilkan info. Pake perintah "time"  ternyata bukan seperti yang sy inginkan fungsinya. Setelah hampir beberapa jam mencoba perintah akhirnya menemukan perintah
"date MMDDhhmmYY"
MM = Month/Bulan (2 digit)
DD  = Date/Tanggal (2 digit)
hh  = Hours/Jam (2 digit)
mm = Minutes/Menit (2 digit)
YY = Year/Tahun (2 Digit)
